RDAPs

The acquisition of Research Degree Awarding Powers (RDAPs) is a major strategic aim of UWIC. The achievement of external recognition of our research capabilities represents a logical and natural extension of university’s maturity and development as an HE institution.

UWIC has traveled a great distance since its incorporation in 1992.  At that time the institution was depicted as having a mixed economy of FE and HE activity.

Early strategic goals to achieve autonomy included the attainment of Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAPs) in 1993 and gaining membership of the University of Wales in 1996.

Since then, UWIC has taken a more proactive approach to developing and supporting research as a key element of its mission.
