UWIC Wins Collaborative Bid for 2012 Sports Conference

The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) is part of a leading consortium that has achieved its bid to host the International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport (ICSEMIS).

The ICSEMIS is set to run from July 19 to 27 in 2012, ending on the day the London Olympics begin.

UWIC is one of five other higher education institutions, Liverpool John Moores, the University of Strathclyde and Ulster University who have made the successful bid led by London’s Brunel University.

Scotland's largest city, Glasgow is to play host to the ICSEMIS, which will take place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre attracting around 3000 delegates from across the world. Glasgow was selected in China earlier this month by representatives from a host of sporting bodies, including the International Olympic Committee.

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and Concorde Services supported the winning bid by Brunel ICSEMIS 2012 Consortium and will organise the event.
