Professor David Brooksbank will hold the position of Director of Enterprise at UWIC's Cardiff School of Management (CSM).

He is the latest key, business-focused addition to an already impressive professorial team at CSM, and brings a wealth of experience from his current role at the University of Glamorgan, where he is also Director of the Welsh Enterprise Institute and Head of the Department for Enterprise & Economic Development.

"I am delighted to be joining the Cardiff School of Management as its new Director of Enterprise,” said Professor Brooksbank. “The school has a growing and deserved reputation for enterprise activity and I am keen to build on this with the excellent team already there.

“Entrepreneurship in all its many forms is a vital component of economic development in Wales and it is essential that universities play their part in creating and stimulating knowledge transfer and adding value. As the Assembly Government moves into a new phase of policy delivery, I am confident that UWIC will be at the forefront of implementing and driving enterprise through all of its activities both with students and businesses across Wales. I am looking forward to helping to drive this agenda."

Professor Brooksbank’s academic and industrial training is as an economist and accountant, with his PhD being based on an analysis of self-employment.  His research interests focus on small firm strategy, learning and development – areas where he has published extensively.

David Pritchard, Dean of the Cardiff School of Management, said: “I am absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to attract someone of David’s calibre to the Management School.

“We are committed to playing our full part in the renewal of the Welsh economy and are strengthening our already impressive team so that we can boost our capacity to deliver on this. This is another step in demonstrating that the UWIC School of Management is ‘open for business’ and anyone wanting to engage with us is welcome to do so.”
