The Food Industry Centre based at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) sponsors a True Taste of Wales Award for the second year running.
The True Taste of Wales Baked and Confectionery Product Award 2007/08 recognises the successful contribution that the bakery sector makes to the food market in Wales. Commitment, enthusiasm, entrepreneurial flair and an innovative approach to new product development are key criteria for winning the award.
The Food Industry Centre (established in 1989) is one of the world’s leading centres for applied food safety research, providing consultancy services and training programmes for a wide range of clients, both in the UK and overseas.
The centre is an active member of Food Network Wales which is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for any food company looking for advice and support on growing its business.

An investment of £4.8 million has been allocated for a new Food Industry Centre building at UWIC, which will be operational in the spring of 2009.
