Investors in People: A Journey to Corporate Recognition In January 2006, UWIC was successfully recognised as an Investor in People organisation. This is a true accolade to all the hard work that UWIC staff have put into achieving the standard over the years and something everyone can be proud of. Back in December 1999, UWIC’s Board of Governors made a commitment to embark upon the journey towards achieving the Investors in People standard. A building block approach was adopted which required 27 Schools and Units to achieve the standard on an individual basis. This methodology provided the necessary flexibility in terms of allowing Schools and Units to progress towards assessment at their own pace, but within the overall Corporate timescale. In April 2005 a "Mock Assessment" was carried out with a number of recommendations which were addressed in the following months. The corporate assessment began in October 2005. Following a series of meetings and reporting, the assessment team confirmed that the Principles and Indicators of the April 2000 version of the National Standard were fully met. On 19th January 2006, the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) was recognised as an Investor in People organisation. UWIC will continue to work within the principles of the IiP standard and will be re–assessed in approximately two years time. | |
